‘Traits is a personal project that focuses on my friends and colleagues that dedicate a big chunk of their lives to working on their creative passion, whatever that might be.

Richard ‘Bal’ Ballentine has since his early teens been a Hip Hop fan since its birth in America in the late seventies / early eighties - and since I’ve known him he has had Technics Turntables and stacks of vinyl at his fingertips.

This love has never diminished , especially for the craft of turntablism even as the technology has morphed the art of DJing way beyond sampling one record with breaks, scratches and vocal pieces. Bal still utilises to original two turntables and mixer to chop up, scratch and cut those beats. It is a delight to see up close.
